Please join us to build skills and create a welcoming space for everyone to speak openly about the role of race in our and our children’s lives. Now, more than ever, we need to be a community that recognizes that systemic racism affects each of us differently, depending on our racial identity; that sees, welcomes and responds to each of our children for who they are; and that celebrates the diversity of experiences and perspectives that each family brings.

The Vegan Maker and Craft fair was such a success last year we had people asking us to have it twice a year! Although twice a year isn't in our bandwidth right now, we are committed to having it once a year moving forward.

The second annual Vegan Maker and Craft Fair will be on November 24th, from 2-6pm. This year we have reserved both the Dining Hall, and the Annex at Taborspace, which will enable us to have a larger event with even more vendors!

Deliberative Democracy in Portland
Feb

6:30 PM18:30

Deliberative Democracy in Portland

"Deliberative democracy is a framework for addressing complex issues that require input from many groups of people, and necessitates an ability to listen deeply and build across difference. Out of deliberation, complex and adaptive solutions can emerge that are informed by numerous different stakeholders effected by an issue. "

This event is for leaders committed to social change throughout Portland to better understand the core components of deliberative democracy, a process by which many people from vastly different perspectives convene to tackle complex issues.

During this event, we will be learning about the core components of deliberative democracy, hear from Portland-based organizations about what this democratic process looks like in practice, and will be practicing it ourselves throughout the evening. It will be a chance to get familiar with the skills required for functional deliberation to take place, and attendees will leave with a heightened capacity to increase deliberation in their own spheres of influence.

Participants will be engaging with individuals from very different sectors, fields, communities, and perspectives across the city -- this will be a chance to workshop in real-time the listening skills required to drive change across difference. At the end, we will co-create a map of what deliberative democracy could look like in Portland.

To RSVP, please click the following link and use the access code "delibdemoc": https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/deliberative-democracy-in-portland-tickets-67234493179

A Call to Individuation: Jung's Mental Functions and Emotional Intelligence

The Portland Chapter, Association for Psychological Type International, Invites You to our October 5th Program.

Individuation – what it is, why it matters and what has it to do with our emotions? Come, explore with us,

a place along the path of increasing awareness, of a deeper understanding of two dynamic systems

within ourselves – the psyche and the emotions; we’ll discuss and discover:

• In the system of the psyche, the rational functions of type, thinking and feeling, which are innate and hard-wired at birth

• In the system of emotions, the interpersonal emotions of sympathy, empathy, caring, compassion, which are innate, but flexible and need social development

• How a deeper understanding of each and their interactions may bring us to kinder, more effective and more wise relationships with both ourselves and Others.
With C. G. Jung and the beginning of psychology, with the Professor who named the “Platinum Rule” and with a true life character, sure to inspire, we’ll explore these aspects of our whole selves, bring them to consciousness, to advance our individual, unique, paths of Individuation.

Saturday, October 5, 2019, 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Registration & Coffee; 10:00 to 12:30 Program

Tabor Space, Muir Hall, 5441 S.E. Belmont St, Portland (ample free parking on 54th St.)

Cost: Members Free – Non-Members $20.00 – Students $5.00 – CEs $10.00

Caring for Children in the Midst of Global Crisis

Using The Work That Reconnects practices developed by Joanna Macy, we will gather with other parents, teachers and caretakers to deeply feel, process and reflect upon the outrageous endeavor of raising children in this time of environmental and social collapse.

This form of group work allows us to transmute and release our pain, fear and grief so we can show up for our children with the presence and courage that they really need from us.

The group will meet once a week for 90 minutes at
Tabor Space in SE Portland. During week 5 the
group will gather on Saturday for an all day hike

incredible Pacific Northwest autumn foliage, and
utilize the healing powers of wilderness to explore
topics in an expansive way that only nature can
