TaborARTSpace is now hosting free Sketch Nights on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 in the evening. The first Sketch Night is this Wednesday, March 10th.
Join artists and neighbors around the table to sketch, talk about art making, and learn from each other. Everyone is welcome!
A different still life will be set up each night. You can bring your own sketch materials – paper, watercolors, paints, pencils, conte crayons, pen and inks – or use the variety of materials that are available for shared use – papers, drawing pencils, crayons, colored pencils, tempera paints, etc.
Sketches are defined as “simple, preliminary or quick drawings.” Whether you are a beginner or accomplished artist, sketching is a fun exercise for jump starting your creativity. Come and sketch in a supportive environment gently facilitated by local artist, Richard Armstrong.
Richard Armstrong is an award winning sculptor, artist and former Waldorf arts teacher who moved from California to Portland two years ago. An early supporter of TaborSpace, he volunteered to be the host for Wednesday Sketch Nights in the TaborARTSpace. He has taught the arts for more than thirty years as a visual artist, set and lighting designer, actor, director and producer. His experience includes working for Disney as a prop maker and selling art on the art show circuit. Twice listed on the ”Top Twenty Regional Artist” by AT&Ts art shows in Central California, Richard will be setting up the still lifes and welcomes you to join him in sketching.
